Don't Mess with Texas

I visited Texas last week for my first official business trip ever! I went to the Christians in Photojournalism Conference which took place in Fort Worth. So not only did I fly by myself, but I found the rental car place, and drove the highways to get to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, the host of the event. For whatever reason, that was a big deal to me! Jesus was watching out for me, and I knew Mom was praying back home ; )

Sidebar: They actually have an "Mrs." degree there. It's called Bachelor of Arts in Humanities with a concentration in homemaking. I'm not sure if I should find that completely ridiculous in this day and age, or be a little bit jealous. I want to be a mom and stay at home with my kids, but I hope the things I've learned from working, volunteering, church and most of all, my family, will help me be a good mom when the the time comes. Is that something you can really teach in a classroom? I don't know.

The conference was amazing. They had National Geographic photographers, an editor from The Washington Post, and several freelance photojournalists. My favorite was Dave Black. He's had incredible access to Olympians and all kinds of athletes and venues. Amazing. All of the speakers shared how their faith has affected their work, and what they've learned along the way. There were people from all over the country, all ages- how cool that I got to be there too.

A few photos from the trip:

Carne Asada tacos with cilantro- muy bien!!

The campus was very regal with lots of old trees.
