$96

I did my taxes this weekend using the turbo tax cd which, for me, is completely unnecessary. What did they tell me? I owe the US gov'ment $96. I'm used to getting a couple hundred back, designated as 'play' money, but not this year. But wait, they ARE sending me $600 cash money! Even better.

The funny thing is, it will probably cost the gov'ment $96 just to send me my check! What else will $96 buy the gov'ment? A screw? An executive lunch? An executive haircut? I will pay them my $96 on April 15th, and warmly accept my $600 of 'play' money in return.

What will my $600 buy? A soon-to-be required HDTV? A vacation? A reupholstering of my favorite chair, purchased in 1968 by my parents? Now this is money well spent. As an American, I'm going to do my part.

Booo! Sorry you OWE money, but you're right...we do get a pretty great tax break to spend on consumer goods later this spring. I vote for a vacation!! You deserve it!
