Sometimes, quite often actually, I think that I'm not cut out for the 40 hour work week. My brother and sister often spend more than 40 hours at the office, so I shouldn't gripe, but it all just seems to be too much. I do have nice colleagues, for the most part, and I get to work on interesting photos most days, but I sit in front of a computer, in a cube and sometimes I dread having to return to cubicle land.
I don't know what this means... maybe I'm not supposed to be working in front of computers? Maybe I was supposed to be a farmer? I come from a family of farmers so it's genetic, though I know squat about farming.
It's not a good sign that every day at lunch I've been researching vacations... not that I'll go on any of them, but just to live vivaciously through pictures and my imagination. It doesn't help that we have a subscription to Nat. Geo Adventure magazine at the office which highlights all kinds of vacations that I've never heard of! I suppose it's not helpful that I can't miss an episode of Amazing Race either.
These are a few favorites that I have researched so far: kayaking through Provence, biking through Czech Republic and Austria (it can be done in as little as five days!), Greece and Turkey to visit places talked about in the Bible, kayaking the Napili coast, Rome (I found RT tickets for $600!), plus many more... I even started a file folder. That's a very bad sign when I have so many pages torn out of magazines that I need a file folder.
I actually have three weeks of vacation this year- a second-runner-up prize for the organization freezing salaries for at least one year, probably two.
I should have taken vacation in February, when things are so dark and dismal in Seattle that everyone is running for the airports to get away from the gray and cold- even for a week.
But there is hope! I was amazed by all the green leaves along I-5 this morning (I spend a lot of time on the 5-er), and cherry blossoms, and tulips. The best season in Seattle is just around the corner!

TAKE A VACATION!!! It's been years! You work hard and deserve some rest (or grueling exercise biking across Europe - whatever floats your boat). : )
